We're pleased to offer a few add-ons that will appeal to some-but-not-all backers. These include extra books, art prints, and other items, including some exclusives available only from Kobold Press, or only as a Kickstarter backer. How Do Add-Ons Work?
Add-ons are a Kickstarter tradition based on a quirk in the system: When you pledge for a reward in Kickstarter, you can always pledge over the minimum amount for that reward. Pledges over the minimum can be used to add something onto your reward, and that's what these are.
Some add-ons will be delivered separately from the Compendium. These may require separate shipping costs. The biggest Hero Lab package we've ever created!
Includes shipping in the US. International shipping costs TBD. First come, first served. We have a few extras that we printed to cover returns and damaged copies.
It's a short adventure featuring goblins. This exclusive color edition is available only directly from Kobold Press. Yet since both biology and culture are mutable—especially when one considers the powerful forces of magic—racial traits can be so diverse that two elves can be extremely different while still manifesting aspects of their shared heritage and culture.
This is true whether you play to or against the stereotypes.
A savage and bloodthirsty half-orc who lives only for battle is fun to play, but so is a stern and conflicted half-orc paladin constantly struggling to keep her bloodlust in check. Both fit comfortably within the theme of half-orc , but come off as very different characters around the game table. After all, most people know the basics: dwarves are short, elves live a long time, and gnomes are dangerously curious. Half-orcs are ugly. Humans are—well, human.
Core Races The following races are the most common in fantasy settings. Dwarf : These short and stocky defenders of mountain fortresses are often seen as stern and humorless. Dwarves also have a tendency toward traditionalism and isolation that sometimes manifests as xenophobia.
Elf : Tall, noble, and often haughty, elves are long-lived and subtle masters of the wilderness.
Elves excel in the arcane arts. Often they use their intrinsic link to nature to forge new spells and create wondrous items that, like their creators, seem nearly impervious to the ravages of time.
A private and often introverted race, elves can give the impression they are indifferent to the plights of others. Gnome : Expatriates of the strange land of fey, these small folk have a reputation for flighty and eccentric behavior.
