We are using Learning Python, second edition, by O'Reilly. It is not a text for beginner without any programming knowledge, and an instructor that should be working in another field.

Thank you very much for your book, without it I would be clueless about Python and programming. Thanks a million, you are able to break the message down to a level that beginners can understand and not everyone can.

It is the greatest Python tutorial ever, and a very useful reference.

A Byte of Python

Brilliant, a true masterpiece! Keep up the good work! I think it is a good book for those who are looking for a beginner's tutorial for Python. A good introduction to the language and some of the ecosystem it functions in. As typical with the Head First series this one sometimes targets the new-to-programming audience more than the new-to-Javascript audience. The initial chapters that have you build a battleship single page application raised my expectations really high.

Then the rest of the book went back to basic OO concepts such as dog inheritance hierarchies. You also aren't going to get much on how to best structure your javascript A good introduction to the language and some of the ecosystem it functions in.

Don't expect to be capable of doing awesome websites when you finish to read this book, but to have a good basis to keep learning about web programming. I enjoyed learning about JavaScript with this book, and with the little class that codeacademy offers. While I don't consider myself even at all close to an expert on JavaScript now, I am much more comfortable with the subject!

Much better introduction to and coverage of Javascript than I expected. Very thorough. At first I was put off by the style but because this grew on me. It helped that they extended the very casual style to cover more detailed, in-depth questions which arise while one is learning a language.
